Blanchflower captained the team in both fixtures. Robert Dennis 'Danny' Blanchflower (1926-1993) played for Northern Ireland 56 times between 1949 and 1963, scoring two goals, and was Tottenham Hotspur’s captain during their 1960-61 Double- winning season.
