Davies, Director of Stoke FC, 9ct rose gold circular medal with central rotating football and loop ring, obverse with red enamel lettering STOKE FC TO COMMEMORATE WINNING THE LEAGUE LANCASHIRE SECTION1917-18, reverse engraved J. DAVIES DIRECTOR, hallmarked Birmingham 1918 by Vaughton & Sons, in original velvet lined box, exterior with gilt lettering STOKE FOOTBALL CLUB 1917-18, 37 by 26mm., 16gr. Between 1915-19 the Football League and FA Cup were suspended in England due to WW1 and regional football league competitions were played in their place. The four regional leagues included the Lancashire Section and Midland Section, which were split into a principal tournament and the London Combination and Bristol County Combination.Stoke FC were the principal tournament winners of the Lancashire Section while subsidiary tournament winners included Liverpool, Manchester City, Preston North End and Bolton Wanderers.
