Amateur Cup runners-up medal, hallmarked 9ct .375 Birmingham 1898-99 by Vaughton & Sons Ltd, obverse inscribed THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION AMATEUR CUP with crest shield in relief, reverse inscribed RUNNERS-UP, of circular form with suspension ring, diameter 25mm., 9gr., no case with this lot The original recipient of this medal is unknown. This runners-up medal is uninscribed with details of the match, however the gold hallmark date letter is for 1898-99. This would suggest the 1899 Amateur Cup final when Harwich & Parkeston were defeated 1-0 by Stockton played at Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, on 25th March.
