Red England v Wales international cap awarded to Preston North End's goalkeeper George "Harry" Holdcroft in season 1936-37, bearing the England rose national emblem and inscribed 1936-37 in gilt wire. This match was played at Ninian Park 17th October 1936. Wales defeated England 2-1.  Harry Holdcroft (Preston North End, Everton and England goalkeeper) Lots 641 to 665 George Henry Holdcroft (known as Harry) 1909 – 1983 played for Port Vale and Darlington before moving to Everton and was part of their chamionship winning squad of 1931-1932 but he is perhaps best known for his time at Preston North End making  172 consecutive appearances (263 in total) helping the Lambs to promotion in 1933-34. He also kept a clean sheet in their 1938 FA Cup final victory over Huddersfield town. Holdcroft was selected to play for England twice in the 1936 Home Internationals against Wales and Ireland.
