Scotland international cap awarded to Alex Forbes for the matches v Ireland and Wales in season 1947-48, blue velvet with gilt tassel and braiding, embroidered with Scotland’s emblem of a lion rampant flanked by S v I and S v W and 1947-48 on the peak, faded, minor wear and slight staining, possible new tassel, interior bearing minor tack stitching Alex Forbes was a Sheffield United player when selected for these two international matches. In all he played 14 times for Scotland. In March 1948 he joined Arsenal, the club where he would be a member of two Championship winning teams. He was also a F.A. Cup winner in 1950. and Forbes' shirt from the final is being offered elsewhere in this auction as lot 561.
