A postcard featuring a photographic portrait of England's first ever football goal scorer William Kenyon-Slaney, postmarked 1906, at the time Slaney was a member of Parliament for the Northern (Newport) Division of Shropshire, the reverse addressed to Church Stretton in Shropshire, good condition; sold together with a press cutting relating to Kenyon-Slaney, (2) England first international was drawn 0-0 against Scotland, but William Kenyon-Slaney scored in the first minute of a 4-2 win in the return fixture at the Kennington Oval on 8th March 1873, making him England's first ever goal scorer. He added a second goal in the game in this his only England appearance. He also played first class cricket and was decorated for his exploits in the battle of Tel el-Kebir in 1882.
