Manchester United Player's Contract for the Busby Babe Geoff Bent for the 1956-57 League Championship winning season, drawn up on behalf of MUFC by the Club Secretary Walter Crickmer, an agreement for the player to be paid £12 per week between 1st July and 1st August 1956, then £15 per week until 4th May 1957, reverting to £12 until 30th June 1957, an unsigned file copy Geoff Bent tragically was one of the eight Manchester United players who died in the Munich Air Disaster. He was a local lad born in Salford 27th September 1932 and a Busby Babe who had come through the club's youth system. The left-back was largely an understudy for club captain Roger Byrne and made only 12 first-team appearances but was nevertheless highly-rated by manager Matt Busby who fended off interest in the player from other First Division clubs
