The William Hill Golden Spurs Award presented to Pat Eddery as 'Best Flat Jockey in 1990, in the form of a bronze sculpture of a galloping racehorse & jockey, mounted on an oval wooden plinth set with plaque with presentation inscription, 22 by 26cm. In 1990 Pat Eddery won his eight Jockey Championship title and the most prolific in terms of winners, surpassing 200 for the first and only time, finishing the season on 209. He also rode what was to be his third and final Derby win on Quest For Fame. Other big race wins included rides on Great Commotion (Cork & Orrery), Batshoof (Prince of Wales's & Tattersalls Gold Cup), Tirol (Irish 2,000 Guineas), Houseproud (French 1,000 Guineas), Sanglamore (French Derby), Distant Relative (Prix du Moulin) and Defensive Play (Man O'War).
