After Francis Calcraft Turner (British, c.1782-1846) ALICE HAWTHORN "THE QUEEN OF THE TURF" aquatint engraved by G.A. Turner, published by E. Cambart, depicting Mr J. Plummer's outstanding race mare with jockey Robert Hesseltine up a racecourse, possibly Doncaster, the image 42 by 53cm., under glass in a Hogarth frame, overall 64 by 77cm., foxing marks Alice Hawthorn won 47 races and dead-heated in another. These victories included 18 Cup races and 17 Queen's Plates, all equivalent to races in the modern-day Pattern calendar.
