Paris 1900 Exposition Universelle Internationale award medal, designed by Chaplain

Winning Bid:
£240

That’s a wrap! We've reached the end of the auction and we’re busy tying up final bids behind the scenes. Thanks for being part of it — we’ll be in touch soon.

Paris 1900 Exposition Universelle Internationale award medal, designed by Chaplain, bronze, the obverse depicts head of France with city view in the background and inscribed REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE, the reverse depicts winged figure of Victory holding laurel wreath and a palm branch and a winner on her back, inscribed EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE INTERNALE 1900 JANOUSEK FRERES, the rim inscribed BRONZE, 63mm., with entrance ticket (2)

Since no participation medals were awarded for the 1900 Olympic Games held in conjunction with the international exhibition, this is deemed to be the best representation to complete a collection.
