Nishapour was a grey colt foaled in 1975 by Zeddaan out of Alama (Aureole). He was bred and owned by HH The Aga Khan and trained in France by Francois Mathet.
As a 2-y-o the colt won the Prix du Touques and at three the Poule d’Essai des Poulains (French 2,000 Guineas). He was placed in all six of his other runs.
At stud, Nishapour sired three G1 winners: Beauchamp King (Racing Post Trophy), Mouktar (French Derby) and Shemaka (French Oaks).
