Richard Dighton (British, 1795-1880) a pair of double-portraits of leading Victorian racing personalities,
both in watercolour over a printed base, the first portraying the Turf grandees Admiral Rous and Mr George Payne titled “Fathers of the Turf”, the other racehorse owner Lord Falmouth and his jockey Fred Archer titled “Honour and Talent”, the images 20 by 16cm., in original mounts and wooden frames, overall, 37 by 30.5cm., good condition, (2).
Provenance: Lots 72 to 90. The late Richard “Dickie” Onslow, horse racing journalist, author and historian.
