In Sammy's debut match against Greece played on 17th November 1982 in Salonika, England defeated Greece 3-0, Sammy scoring on his International debut, in the match against Luxembourg played on 15th December 1982 at Wembley, England defeated Luxembourg 9-0, i the match against Greece played on 30th March 1983 at Wembley, the teams drew the match 0-0, in the match against Hungary played on 27th April 1983 at Wembley, England defeated Hungary 2-0, in the match against Denmark played on 21st September 1983 at Wembley, Denmark defeated England 1-0, in the match against Hungary played on 12th October 1983 in Budapest, England defeated Hungary 3-0, Lee scoring his 2nd international goal and in the match against Luxembourg played on 16th November 1983, England defeated Luxembourg 4-0
