A one-off set of Mika Hakkinen Mclaren Mercedes overalls. During 2001 Alpinestars planned to enter Formula as a race suit supplier. They produced numerous prototypes and sent them to all the teams with the aim of supplying them for the upcoming 2002 Formula 1 season.
This is the very suit they sent to McLaren Mercedes in Mika Hakkinen's size for him and the team to test and consider them as a supplier. The suit has some marks and signs of being used in the car.
The suit includes some interesting innovations such as an inner lining that negates the need for additional nomex layers. This is a feature that never made the actual race suits.
