During the Test series Botham scored his maiden Test match century making 103 batting at number seven for England in the 2nd Test against New Zealand at Christchurch on the February 24th, 25th, 26th, 28th and 1st March 1978, in the same match Botham took 5-73 in the first innings and 3-38 in the second. England winning by 174 runs. In the 3rd Test Botham took 5-109
