Captaining the host nation to victory at Lord’s, Edwards cemented her place among the greatest figures in women’s cricket during a remarkable year in which England secured both the 50-over and T20 World Cup titles.
Edwards was one of the tournament’s standout performers, scoring 139 runs in five matches at an average of 34.75, including an unbeaten 61 against India and a match-winning 43 against Pakistan, where she also claimed 2 wickets for 7 runs. She finished as the tournament’s third-highest run scorer and was subsequently selected in the ICC Team of the Tournament.
