The 2002 FIFA World Cup took place from May 31 to June 30, 2002, in South Korea and Japan. It was the first World Cup to be held in Asia and the first World Cup to be jointly hosted by more than one nation. Tournament matches were held in 10 cities in South Korea and 10 cities in Japan. Brazil won the tournament for a record fifth time, winning the final against Germany 2-0
