Three racecards for Royal Ascot 10th to 12th June 1834, scarce Oxley's official cards The 1834 Gold Cup was won by Lord Chesterfield's Glaucus. The meeting opened with the inaugural running of the St James's Place Stakes. Mr Batson's Derby winner Plenipotentiary defied a 7lb. penalty to win the 100 sovs. race. The Ascot Derby (now King Edward VII Stakes) was also run for the first time in this year and won by Pussy owned by Mr Cosby.
