Three racecards for Royal Ascot 12th to 14th June 1838, scarce Oxley's official Windsor Cards The 1838 Gold Cup was won by Lord George Bentinck's Grey Momus. In this year the new monarch Queen Victoria donated a piece of plate to the value of 200 sovs. and so was born the race we know today as The Queen's Vase. The inaugural race was won by Lord Exeter's Mecca.
