The 1959 Oaks and 1,000 Guineas winner Petite Etoile was a grey filly foaled in 1956 by Petition out of Star of Iran. This outstanding filly won 14 of her 19 starts and other career wins included the Sussex Stakes, Yorkshire Oaks, Champion Stakes, the Coronation Cup (twice) and the Coronation Stakes. Petite Etoile was owned by H.H. Prince Aly Khan, trained by Noel Murless and ridden by Lester Piggott.
