Derek Dougan's dark blue Northern Ireland international cap season 1971-72, inscribed IRISH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION LIMITED, E, S, W, R, 1971-72 Derek Dougan was a Wolverhampton Wanderers player at the time that this cap was awarded. He played in all three of the Home International matches this season, plus he played in both legs of the matches v the USSR during the European Nations Cup qualifying campaign. The cap includes representation of the famous 1-0 win over England at Wembley on 23rd May 1972. Scotland proved too strong at Hampden Pak winning 2-0, and the Wales match in Wrexham ended as a 0-0 draw. USSR beat Northern Ireland 1-0 in Moscow, whilst the game in Belfast ended as a 1-1 draw.
