Noel Cantwell's presentation for the 1963 Football Association Charity Shield, in the form of a silver miniature of the competition trophy on an octagonal black bakelite backboard, inscribed EVERTON v MANCHESTER UNITED, AT GOODISON PARK, LIVERPOOL, 17th AUGUST 1963, easel support The 1962-63 League winners Everton were too strong for the 1963 F.A. Cup winners Manchester United on this day and ran out comfortable 4-0 winners. The Irish international Noel Cantwell (1932-2005) made 123 League appearances for Manchester United between 1960 and his retirement in 1967. He captained the 1963 F.A. Cup winning side. Previously Cantwell had been at West Ham United for eight years, the 'Hammers' signing him from Cork Athletic in 1952.
