A card case originally owned by the athlete Walter Goodall George the one mile World Record Holder between 1886 and 1915, silver plated with WGG monogram, 8.5cm., 3 1/4in. George set a new World Record mile time of 4 mins 12.75 secs at the 1886 AAA Championships at Lillie Bridge in west London. This record stood until the American miler Norman Taber clocked 4 mins 12.60 at Allston, Mass., 16th July 1915. Provenance: By family descent
