A rare gilt-bronze version of the 1900 Paris Olympic Games plaquette struck in conjunction with the Paris 1900 Exposition Universelle, the obverse with a triumphant classical athlete, the reverse inscribed EDUCATION PHYSIQUE, OFFERT PAR LE MINISTRE, in original velvet lined red case, with identical inscription in gilt More commonly these plaquettes are just in bronze, not gilded. It must have been a presentation to a higher ranking individual involved in the Olympic Games.
