An exceptionally rare unused ticket from a Sam McVea's contest with Bill Harris The two men met on 26th June 1909 in Marseille, France. McVea won by fifth round KO. The event was promoted by D. Manselon and held at the Amphitheatre Assis. Entry was 5 1/2 Francs. McVey ranked alongside Jack Johson, Joe Jeanette, Sam Longford and Harry Wills as the top black heavyweights of their generation. The American Hall of Famer died from pneumonia in New York City in 1921, aged just 37.
