Eric B?ttner (1889-1936) TENNIS BERLIN-GRUNEWALD an etching signed in the plate and dated 1912, publisher's details, 20 by 27cm., 8 by 10 1/2in., mounted, framed & glazed The German painter Eric Buttner studied from 1906 to 1911 at the Unterrichtsanstalt des Kunstgewerbemuseums Berlin. In 1908 he became a member of Berlin Secessionists. B?ttner's work is dominated by dynamic form of expressionism. In the 1920s he created a series of portraits of his friends and fellow artists including Lovis Corinth, George Grosz, Arno Holz and Heinrich Zille. He produced a very fine book of exlibris (bookplates) in Berlin 1921.
