The Northern Ireland game doubled as a Home Championship match and a European Nations Cup qualifier. It was played on 22nd October 1966 and was England's first following the World Cup and the trophy was paraded before the game at Windsor Park. England won 2-0. Hunt scored the opener with a crisp half-volley from a Peters cross whipped in from the right. The Wales game was played at Wembley on 16th November 1966. Again this Home Championship match doubled as a Nations Cup qualifier. England won 5-1.
