1824 receipt for a guinea for the inaugural running of the Chester Cup known originally as the Chester Tradesmen's Cup, the sum paid by Mr Edward Hodkinson and signed for by the Treasurer, Chester, 12th September 1823, the document with an engraving of the Tradesmen's Cup to be raced for 5th May 1824 together with details of the race conditions and the course ''To start at the Castle Pole, run twice round, and end at the Coming-In Chair'', mounted, framed & glazed, 31 by 36cm.
