Joe Mercer Aston Villa FC runners-up tankard for the Football League Cup Final in season 1962-63, silver plated, engraved with the crest of the Football League and inscribed THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE CUP, 1962-63, RUNNERS UP, 11.5cm.; sold with another silver plated tankard presented to Joe Mercer by Aston Villa FC on the occasion of the friendly match v Dynamo Kiev 13th November 1961, 10.5cm. (2) Villa reached the Football League Cup Final for the second time in three years in season 1962-63 but on this occasion lost to local rivals Birmingham City 3-1 on aggregate.
