Cigarette case awarded to Lester Piggott for the 1991 Furstenberg-Rennen at Baden-Baden, German-made cigarette case with racing scene illustration under plastic on lid, silver plated, wood inlaid and inscribed to side FURSTENBERG-RENNEN 1991, 8.5 by 12 by 3cm. The Furstenberg-Rennen is a Group 3 Flat race in Germany for three-year-olds, inaugurated in 1880 and staged every August over a distance of a mile and a quarter. Until 2010 it was run at Baden-Baden since when it has been hosted by various tracks. Lester Piggott, riding the Andreas Wohler-trained Tao, won the race in 1991.Provenance: from the Lester Piggott Collection.
