Pen, ink and watercolour drawing of a jockey costume design for a ballet production, indistinctively signed lower right, label to reverse referring to Kenneth MacMillan, mounted and framed, 48 by 37cm. Sir Kenneth MacMillan (1929-1992) was a British ballet dancer and choreographer who was artistic director of the London Royal Ballet 1970-1977 and its principal choreographer from 1977 until his death. The costume design would almost certainly be for a production of the Danish composer August Bournonville's (1805-1879) 'The Jockey Dance', a duet for male dancers who mimic the motions of racehorses in a lively piece that sees frog leaps, gallops and shuffles, all the while 'whipping' their 'horses'.
