Victorian lawn tennis trophy,awarded to Herbert Chipp in 1881 by the Hampstead Cricket Club in their Annual Lawn Tennis Tournament. nickel silver trophy tankard, 12 by 9cm. Condition is good with obvious surface scratches to tankard, there is a dent is the lower side of the handle and it is tarnished.Just three years later Chipp would lose out to Lawford in the rounds at Wimbledon and later become a respected tennis author and administrator.
