Henry Vardon handwritten note, dated 2nd June 1926, in ink on letterhead, referring to the Evening Standard  Target Golf Tournament Jersey-born professional golfer Henry William Vardon (1870-1937) was a six-time Open Champion and won the US Open in 1900. Together with John Henry Taylor and James Braid, he made up British golf's 'Great Triumvirate' - the three outstanding players combining to win the Open Championship 16 times in the 21 tournaments held between 1894 and 1914.
