1940 Hungary Jewish Hakoah club plaque, silvered rectangular plaque with profile surrounded by a wreath, with engraved script below and a second silvered plaque engraved HAKOAH 1940, both applied to an ebonised rectangular back, 10.5 by 6.5cm. In 1940, Jews from Poland, Austria and Germany were being shipped to labour concentration camps, but the Jews of Hungary were not yet subjected to this since their country was not occupied by the Third Reich. By 1944, Hitler had demanded the Jews of Hungary be sent to Auschwitz.
