John Mahoney match-worn white Stoke City No.7 home jersey v Arsenal in the FA Cup Semi-Final, played at Hillsborough on 27th March 1971, long-sleeved with embroidered club crest, reverse bearing number seven This fixture resulted in a 2-2 draw. With time ticking away, Arsenal were awarded a corner, when it was clear to most Stokies that Gordon Banks was fouled. The ball came into the box, Frank McLintock headed it toward goal and Stoke's John Mahoney dived full-length to block it with his hand. Arsenal won the Replay 2-0 and would go on to beat Liverpool in the Final and achieve the League and Cup double. Provenance: Christies Auction London 2002, sold by the player.
