Sportingly referee Peter Walton has consigned his famous yellow “air card” and the matching red one from the set. It was on 9th March 2011 that the referee was forced to issue a yellow card on 40 minutes at Goodison Park to Birmingham City youngster Jordon Mutch who had lunged at Everton’s Louis Saha. Realising that he had forgotten his cards and Knowing the Sky Sports cameras were fixed firmly on him, the ref can be seen calmly delving into his short pockets to produce Mutch’s invisible yellow. In an action that would impress even the world’s best mime actors, Walton appears to majestically hold aloft the caution with realism and poise before returning it in his back pocket.
