Ephemera relating to the 1923 Derby winner Papyrus and his voyage to the USA to race Zev the 1923 Kentucky Derby winner in an International Match race on dirt at Belmont Park 20th October 1923, comprising a R.M.S. "Aquitania! brochure titled 'Souvenir of the Voyage of Papyrus'; Cunard Line passenger list; and some press cuttings The match was for a purse of $85,000, the richest prize ever offered for a horse race and equivalent to approx. $1.5million today. The dirt horse Zev won the race comfortably by five lengths.
