Fred Archer memorabilia, comprising: a Victorian print of the jockey Fred Archer circa 1886, titled The Late Fred Archer, the jockey portrayed in the colours of the Prince of Wales, published by The Illustrated Sporting & Dramatic News, in a modern mount with oval-shaped aperture, 56 by 36cm., visible print in good condition, not inspected below mount; sold together with a 1986 Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museums Exhibition Catalogue “Fred Archer, Sporting Hero, 1857-1886” which features the above mentioned print to the front cover; the lot also including a further Victorian print titled Fred Archer, Champion Jockey, with decorative embossed mantel clock-shaped card mount featuring a horse's head, oak and laurel; a woven silk stevengraph picture of Archer wearing the Duke of Westminster's colours; and a Victorian pottery octagonal plate from the Wallis Grimson & Co. Portrait Series, featuring Archer and inscribed with details of his career, black & white decoration, restored, (5 items).
