In the match against Switzerland played on 18th November 1980 at Portman Road, England defeated The Swiss 5-0, in the match against Romania played on 28th April at the County Ground, Swindon, England defeated Romania 3-0, in the match against Switzerland played on 31st May 1981 in Neuchatel, the teams drew the match 0-0 and in the two-legged final against West Germany played on 21st September 1982 at Bramall Lane, England defeated West Germany 3-1 and in the match against West Germany played on 12th October 1982 in Bremen, West German defeated England 3-2, however, England winning the match 5-4 on aggregate.
