A rare sample red, white and black Sheffield United short sleeved home shirt 1997-1999.

Winning Bid:
£160

That’s a wrap! We've reached the end of the auction and we’re busy tying up final bids behind the scenes. Thanks for being part of it — we’ll be in touch soon.

A rare sample red, white and black Sheffield United short sleeved home shirt 1997-1999, Le Coq Sportif official early sample, V neck collar with embroidered  club badge mounted centrally and Le Coq Sportif embroidered above with no official manufacturer badge  as opposed to the final version worn by players and sold commercially by the Club.

This is the earliest known example of the final red, white and black home shirt chosen for seasons 1997 to 1999 and was presented to then Club Commercial Manager Andy Daykin for official approval from the Board of Directors, which it received with subtle changes from this prototype to the one which finally appeared on the backs of the players and for sale through Club retail outlets.

Provenance: The Andy Daykin collection.
