In the first match of the two-legged final played on 10th May 1973 at Anfield, Liverpool defeated Borussia Monchengladbach 3-0 and in the 2nd leg played on 23rd May, Borussia Monchengladbach defeated Liverpool 2-0, giving Liverpool a 3-2 aggregate victory
