18ct. gold & enamel vesta case originally owned by the Royal Jockey John Watts,
hallmarked London 1898, maker's mark rubbed, with fine enale portrait of the Prince of Wales's Derby and St Leger winning racehorse Persimmon with jockey John Watts up, the lid initialled in enamel J W, 4.5 by 3cm., 38gr.

Lots 10 to 34 Memorabilia relating to the Royal Jockey John Watts (1861-1902) and the jockey Kempton Cannon (1879-1951). The connection between the two jockeys being that Watts's widow married Cannon. Provenance: by family descent.
