content beginning in 1886, in addition to press cuttings content including signed manuscript correspondence from grandees of the Turf including the Prince of Wales (on Sandringham stationery) Duke of Portland, Broderick Cloete, James Lowther, Marcus Beresford, Sir Dighton Probyn (Comptroller & Treasurer to the Prince of Wales, on Windsor Castle stationery), Leopold de Rothschild, Lord Rosebery, also telegrams including from Lillie Langtry; the later content continued by the family and also relating to the jockey Kempton Cannon who married John Watts widow; the lot also including a copy of The Field Magazine with an article featuring the opening of the National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket, a collection that included material relating to John Watts (4)
Lots 10 to 34 Memorabilia relating to the Royal Jockey John Watts (1861-1902) and the jockey Kempton Cannon (1879-1951). The connection between the two jockeys being that Watts's widow married Cannon. Provenance: by family descent.
