Status:
Unsold

That’s a wrap! We've reached the end of the auction and we’re busy tying up final bids behind the scenes. Thanks for being part of it — we’ll be in touch soon.

An early example of a ladies silk scarf commemorating the winner of the Epsom Derby: Lord Lyon in 1866,
with central portrait of Mr Sutton's Derby winner with Henry Custance up, surrounded by vignettes with printed details of Derby winners since 1780, red border, two areas of silk damage both close to borders, framed but unglazed, 86 by 92cm.

In a tradition that lasted over 100 years a silk scarf was produced to commemorate the Epsom Derby winner. The most recent example the auctioneer has ever seen was for 1969 so over a century past the present 1866 scarf.
