John (Jock) Govan was an ideally built, sound and un-compromising player, born in Larkhall, Lanarkshire on the 16 January 1923, his playing career began with Larkhall Thistle before joining Hibernian in 1942, a key part of the Hibs success in the late 1940s early 1950s. He made six full International appearances for his country and played twice for The Scottish Football League.
