Frank Watt blue Scotland v. Wales International cap, 1889 and a blue Clydesdale Harriers cap inscribed C.H. 1889-90, in glazed velvet-lined display case, with inscribed brass plaque

The above cap represents 2nd International appearance, in the match played on 15th April 1889 at the Racecourse Ground, the teams drew the match 0-0

Frank Watt played at outside right for Kilbirnie and Scotland. He is perhaps best remembered for his final International appearance against England in 1891, when he scored in the 21 defeat to England. This was the first International in which goal nets were used. The English goalkeeper for that match was Billy Moon, with newspaper headlines the following day “Frank Watt kicks the ball over the Moon”

Provenance: Christie's Scotland, Football Memorabilia, 14th October 1992, Lot 156
