The 1978 three match Test Series was won by England, 3-0, Botham played a major roll in the three Test series, in the second Test played at Trent Bridge, Botham took six wickets for 34 runs from 21 overs in the first innings and three wickets for 59 in the second innings off 25 overs to win by an innings and 119 runs and in the third Test at Lord’s, he took six wickets for 101 off thirty eight overs in the first innings and five wickets for 39 runs off 18.1 overs in the second innings to help England to a seven wicket win
