The 1933 Derby & St Leger winner Hyperion was a chestnut colt foaled in 1930 by Gainsborough out of Selene. He won six and a half other races including the Dewhurst Stakes, Chester Vase & Prince of Wales's Stakes. He later became one of the most influential stallions of the 20th century. Hyperion was owned by Lord Derby, trained by the Hon. George Lambton and ridden by Tommy Weston.
