In the Euro qualifying match against England played on 17th October 1979 at Windsor Park, England defeated Northern Ireland 5-1, in the Euro qualifying match against the Republic of Ireland played on 21st November 1979 at Windsor Park, Northern Ireland defeated the Republic 1-0 and in the World Cup qualifying match against Israel played on 26th March 19080 in Tel Aviv, the match ended in a 0-0 draw
