red silk ground with yellow silk border, elaborate floral decoration and gold thread inscription H R H PRINCE OF WALES' PERSIMMON, WON EPSOM DERBY, DONCASTER ST. LEGER, AND JOCKEY CLUB STAKES, RIDDEN BY JOHN WATTS, IN 1896, fine condition, 77 by 52cm.
Lots 10 to 34 Memorabilia relating to the Royal Jockey John Watts (1861-1902) and the jockey Kempton Cannon (1879-1951). The connection between the two jockeys being that Watts's widow married Cannon. Provenance: by family descent.
